Accra Professionals in  IT Form New ISACA Chapter to Provide IT Education and Promote Best Practice...

Information technology (IT) professionals in Accra, Ghana, have formed a new chapter of ISACA, a nonprofit IT assurance, security and governance association serving more than 86,000 professionals in 160 countries. The Accra Chapter becomes ISACA’s 184th chapter worldwide.

The ISACA Accra Chapter was formed to provide educational opportunities to IT professionals in the area and to ensure that best practice regulatory policies in information security compliance and IT audit are mainstreamed in the Ghanaian business environment.

The chapter plans to offer educational and professional opportunities that include:

  • Exam preparation courses for ISACA’s Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certifications
  • Opportunities to earn continuing professional education (CPE) credits
  • Participation by local leaders
  • Networking opportunities with peers and experts
  • A reduction in the cost of travel to chapter meetings outside the country
  • Opportunities to ensure that ISACA’s IS auditing standards are propagated throughout Ghana

“The ISACA Accra Chapter is positioned to be the hub and driving force to spearhead IS audit and security standards across the entire country of Ghana,” said ISACA Accra First Chapter President C.K. Bruce. “The favorable economic and political climate in Ghana is increasingly promoting business in the services, manufacturing and agricultural sectors and this comes with an increased use of IT. As the capital of Ghana and the center of governmental policies, Accra needs to be a leader in setting standards for the right application of IT across the country. Security in IT is paramount, and the ISACA Accra chapter can deliver IT security guidelines to government, corporate organizations and institutions of higher learning.”

The Accra Chapter has more than 200 members and is continuing to grow and offer regular meetings. Bi - Monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every other month at Coconut Groove Regency hotel, Ridge, Accra.
